The purpose of this training is to provide Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) Company Representatives with the skills and knowledge to manage Contractors through the Rio Tinto Contractor Management System (CMS). The CMS framework outlines 7 steps to follow when engaging Contractors to work for Rio Tinto. Within each of these steps are a number of smaller elements that need to be completed to ensure effective management of the Contractor to avoid an incident or injury.
Who Should Attend:
This is course exclusive to IOC sponsored employees and authority has to be given by specific IOC personnel to attend. The Company Representative role is a position to manage contract companies/workers at IOC.
The aim of this topic is for you to be able to:
- Define your role and responsibilities in relation to the CMS
- Identify the consequences of not using the CMS appropriately
- Manage contract workers at IOC using the Rio Tinto seven step system
