Rigging Competency Assessment

Course Description:
The Rigging Competency Assessment is designed to evaluate a participant’s knowledge and practical skills in safe rigging practices. The assessment ensures that workers not only understand the principles of rigging but can also demonstrate the ability to apply them correctly.

Duration:
4 hours

Who Should Attend:
Anyone directly involved in rigging, lifting, and crane operations should complete this training. This includes crane operators, riggers, construction workers, supervisors, and safety personnel. (This course is not mandated by legislation; however, it is considered best practice for workplace safety.)

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Perform a pre-use inspection on rigging equipment
  • Understand the effect of sling angles in rigging
  • Perform a Take 5 on the practical activity area
  • Tie and demonstrate key knots (e.g., Square Knot, Bowline, Clove Hitch)
  • Perform several lifts with rigging equipment, demonstrating proper attachment, balance, and safe control of a suspended load.
  • Install wire rope clips in the correct number, orientation, and spacing required to secure a load safely.
